FAQs
Q: Why should I take the CPT?
The main benefit of taking the CPT is that it helps you stand out to employers as a high-potential candidate with the foundational skills required to succeed in the job you’re applying for. Some employers may use this test as a substitute for degrees or previous experience. You can submit your results directly to employers or showcase them on your resume and LinkedIn when applying to jobs.
Q: What do I need to do before taking the CPT?
We recommend being in a quiet, distraction-free environment where you can completely focus on taking the CPT for the next two hours. Have a pen or pencil and plenty of paper ready, and use a computer or laptop with a webcam. We recommend using Chrome or Safari browsers. There are no other prerequisites needed. We find it’s best to take the test once to get a feel for how it works and what you should focus on improving before taking it again.
Q: How do I prepare to improve my score?
We recommend that people use the Khan Academy Digital SAT Practice Course or other K-12 materials to prepare for the CPT.
Q: What happens if I fail or don’t like my score?
There’s no way to fail this test. The questions are set up to be very difficult, making it unlikely that many can be answered. Don’t fret, that’s completely normal. Your score is kept private unless you choose to share it. You can always retake the test for free as many times as you like.
