Why doesn't my CPT score match the number of questions I answered correctly?

Updated October 25, 2026

The Career Potential Test (CPT) uses adaptive scoring. As you answer questions, the test adjusts the difficulty of the next questions based on your performance. Because of this, your score is not based solely on the number of questions you answered correctly. More difficult questions are worth more than easier questions, so two people who answer the same number of questions correctly may receive different scores depending on the difficulty of the questions they answered correctly.
