What equipment and software is required for the data analytics course?

Updated June 17, 2025

You will need a device with a good internet connection.

You must use Windows or Mac. Neither Linux nor a Chromebook will work since you will need to be able to download and install the desktop versions of Excel, Tableau, pgAdmin, and Anaconda Python.

The free version of Tableau used in the course is Tableau Public.

The only software that is not free is the desktop version of Excel. You will need Excel version 2021 or later. There is also a Microsoft 365 Personal subscription available. The free online-only version of Excel is missing some necessary features.

A proctored final exam requires a device that meets the following minimum technical requirements, including a camera, speaker, and mic. Headphones are not allowed.
