How much can I expect to be paid in my first IT job?

Updated October 25, 2026

Pay for entry-level IT roles varies with location, industry, and skill set. Pay varies with location, employer and experience. The Information Technology course page shows the typical starting salary for this career.

Roles focused on Azure and cloud technologies, such as Cloud Support Engineer, Support Engineer, Azure Support Engineer, Technical Support Engineer, and Application Support Engineer, usually pay more. However, landing them usually takes extra effort, such as completing your own cloud-based projects or having some prior experience.
