How does grading the final exam written and audio questions work?

Updated March 3, 2026

We grade in a manner consistent with how employers evaluate candidates during phone or in-person interviews. This includes both the accuracy of your answer and your communication skills such as clarity, articulation, pacing, and overall delivery.

Employers may have the opportunity to view your exam score and listen to your audio responses if you choose to share your results with them. Sharing your exam is optional, but if you decide to do so, it’s important to provide your best possible answers.

How Scoring Works (4-Point Scale)

Written Questions

Written responses are graded on a 0–4 scale:

  • 0/4 – Off topic or not remotely close to the correct answer

  • 1/4 – Slightly related, but mostly incorrect or incomplete

  • 2/4 – Partially correct or answers about half of the question correctly

  • 3/4 – Mostly correct, but missing something important

  • 4/4 – Fully correct and complete answer

In rare cases, 1 point may be deducted if the answer is written very poorly grammatically. If this occurs, the feedback will mention it. This deduction does not happen often.

Audio Questions

Audio responses are also graded on a 4-point scale.

For audio questions:

  • Part of your score reflects accuracy of the answer

  • 1 point is specifically based on articulation, which includes:

    • Speaking clearly

    • Using minimal filler words

    • Avoiding long pauses

    • Keeping your response under 3 minutes

A 4/4 is only given when the student:

  • Demonstrates full understanding of the topic, and

  • Delivers the response clearly, confidently, and with depth

Additional Notes

  • Percentages are automatically calculated once the grader assigns a score.

  • If you receive a lower score, the feedback will explain what was missing.

  • In some cases, the full correct answer may be provided in the feedback.
