How does a refund work when the original card is no longer in use?

Refunds can only be issued to the original payment method used in a charge. You can’t send a refund to a different destination, such as another card or bank account.

Unfortunately, we cannot issue refunds with a check. Stripe is our payment processor. Refunds to an expired or canceled card are handled by your card issuer, so ask your bank how it will reach you. Stripe explains how this works in its refunds guide.

It's best if the bank has issued a replacement card.
